he No Name Saloon in Park City, Utah is not just the “go to” bar in this
fashionable ski resort, it is one of the best frontier styled bars in
America. We travelled to the town to celebrate this institution and,
as always, I brought with me a rag bag of western archetypes. The plan
was to build a tableau long in cartoonish parody and see what happened.
It seemed perfectly normal to bring a wolf into the mix: after all, the
clientele of the No Name Saloon has always enjoyed a breadth to it. This
is a place where the rich and famous mingle with those with little
sense of cultural refinement.. . My lead girl was the fabulous Brooks
Nader, who graced the front cover of the 2023 Sports Illustrated
Swimwear Edition. She is an additive to every bar she enters. And then
the sinister looking gentleman with the black cowboy hat was Ty
Mitchell, who played DiCaprio’s assassin in Scorsese’s recent epic
Killers of the Flower Moon. Ty is about as authentic a cowboy as it
gets and seemed very much at home in this lair. I want to thank the
owner of the No Name Saloon - Jesse Shetler - for accommodating our
tribe. We have learnt that this bar is never quiet so to bring a film
crew in is always something of a compromise. On this occasion, however, I
don’t think anyone was complaining.
